New Model Advice & Suggestions -

The team behind TrueModels has been in the online model picture & video business over 20 years. Below you'll find advice & suggestions based on the success other models have had working with us or working in the online model business.

If have further questions please send a message from the form below.

Be yourself as a person, but unique in your photos & videos

The fans that pay to follow you are here for you. It is very easy for fans to notice when a model is being fake or acting fake. Don't fake it, don't over filter your photos, don't exaggerate or lie in your profile or comments.

At the same time your photos & videos should be creatively unique. If you see a model on Instagram posing next to a nice car and she receives a lot of LIKES, don't run out and try to copy that picture. Do your own cool stuff and make yourself creatively unique in your photos, in your videos, in the things you say in your videos, and in your post comments.

Use the "Tell us about yourself" section wisely

The section on your EDIT MY PROFILE page named "Tell us about yourself" is where you brag about who you are and what you offer to subscribers. We allow 500 characters in the area which is plenty of room to be informative.

Remember that "Content is King"

That quote, from a billionaire, goes back over 25 years and means that the success of your profile here depends on the quality and uniqueness of your content. To make great money a profile must offer content that is unique and, in the view of your subscribers, worth paying for. If you are posting the exact same photos and videos here that you do on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube you are not going to make much money.

Keep your top quality and unique content here and use those other sites to drive your fans here so they subscribe. That is how you make money!

Get help with your photo & video production.

Most people can take cute selfies but some outfits, locations and backgrounds will make for a better image if the camera is further away while you are doing the cool posing.

Find a friend or family member to help or partner up with a local photographer. Two people can think of more cool shots than one. Two people can have more fun than one doing this work on their own. Form a team with one or more people to help you.

If your friend also has a profile here that is a natural partnership. Spend one afternoon producing a lot of content for your feed. Pay them back by spending the next afternoon doing the same thing for their feed. But, of course, don't do the same exact pictures and outfits as each other.

If your friend or helper is not a model here you will need to inspire them and keep them interested by giving them part of the money you make. Contact us if you want to make it a partnership through the website so that we send them their share directly.

Teams win Super Bowls, not just one player. Teams make great movies, not just one actor or director. You and your team will have a more successful profile compared to you trying to do it on your own.

Profile Updating Suggestions

You should manage your profile here in any manner you wish. Our experience indicates that having a simple routine that you get used to, and that your subscribers can count on, it the best way to make things easy.

Here are a few of the things that are common with successful female models we know.

  • For each outfit they select to pose in they take 30-36 photos, and pose on normal widescreen video for around 4-6 minutes. For photos they pick 24 favorites to use here, about 6 extras to use on social media, and delete any pictures where the model blinked or the pose isn't great. For the video, if possible, edit it a little and maybe even add some free music.

  • On Monday the first 12 images would be posted to your feed here for subscribers only. Learn how that works in the Photo Posting Suggestions section below. Then post one of the 6 extras for free so new fans can see your style. This is also a good time to react to comments and answer DMs. Then, take another one of the extras and post it on Instagram so your followers there can see your newest work and hopefully be inspired to come here and pay to follow you. Total of 14 modeling photos posted that day between here and Instagram.

  • On Tuesday check into the website to react to comments and answer DMs. If you have something cute, like a selfie, this is a good day to post it. Next, post another of the extra modeling shots on Instagram to inspire fans to come here and pay to follow you. Total of just 1 modeling photo posted that day.

  • On Wednesday the next 12 images would be posted to your feed here for subscribers only so that now you have posted all 24 of your favorites from that outfit. This is a good time to react to comments and answer DMs. Now take another one of the extras and post it on Instagram so your followers there can see your newest work and hopefully be inspired to come here and pay to follow you. Total of 13 modeling photos posted that day.

  • On Thursday check into the website to react to comments and answer DMs. If you have something cute, like a selfie, this is a good day to post it. If you wish this is also a great night to do a simple "Meet & Greet Stream" like we explain below. Also, post another of the extra modeling shots on Instagram to inspire fans to come here and pay to follow you. Total of just 1 modeling photo posted that day.

  • On Friday, post the modeling video here, maybe a screencap for free if you have one, and check your comments and answer DMs. If you have something cute, like a selfie, this is a good day to post it. Then, post another of the extra modeling shots on Instagram to inspire fans to come here and pay to follow you. Total of just 1 modeling video and 1 modeling photo posted that day.

  • If you have an extra photo or two from that outfit it would be good to email them to us. Over the weekend we'll post them to our Instagram accounts and tag you, plus have some of our friends with big shoutout pages do the same.

If you manage your profile exactly this way you will have given your paying subscribers 24 modeling photos, 1 modeling video, done a 20-30 minute live stream and posted a couple of selfies during the week. Plus, you would have replied to comments and DMs here, and spent time on Instagram to inspire fans to come here and pay for your feed.

It may sound like a lot of work, and in some ways it is depending on how serious you are about making high quality photos and videos, but it is also very fun and if done right will make good money. If you use our pricing suggestion below and have only 100 subscribers you would be making $1000 a week for those few hours of work. More subscribers doesn't mean more work but will equal more money!

Pricing Suggestions

The amount you can, or should, charge for your feed depends on many factors:

  • Is the content great, or average. Good clear photos or blurry selfie shots?

  • Is the content rare, or is it the same thing that others are doing?

  • Is the feed updated with just 8-10 photos a week, or 24 photos and a video like we discuss above?

  • Is the weekly video silly and only 20 seconds long, or is it modeling and 4-8 minutes long?

  • Does the model jump on the Live Stream to greet her fans, and stay active in comments and DMs, or does she avoid the site except when posting?

All those factors and more determine what is a fair price for subscribers to pay, and what is a medium price that will get each model the largest number of subscribers. Remember that charging a high prices doesn't usually mean you'll make more money compared to models charging a more reasonable price.

Some models charge $100 for a 30 day subscription and get about 25 subscribers for total sales of $2500. That sounds cool, but not too many fans will invest that much in 1 model each month. Most fans will spread their money out a little, such as paying $50.00 a month for one model and another $50 a month for another model.

Models that charge $50 for a 30 day subscription often get many more subscribers, such as 100-300 or more. If the model has only 100 subscribers at $50 each per month the total sales are $5000 each month, so she is actually making twice as much money each month compared to the model charging $100, for the same amount of work.

Between those two it is the same amount of work for the model. Same posing, same editing, same work posting, but more money for the girl with the more fair price.

Above on this page we posted a section named Profile Updating Suggestions and we feel if the model can keep that type of schedule and the quality of content is good, $50 a month is the right spot to make the most money. Its not too much money for most fans and its not so low that only a small profit is made.

Remember these facts: (1) The models control how much money they make because the more effort the model puts in on Instagram getting fans to come here the more will subscribe to her feed. (2) Its important to keep your current subscribers happy by posting quality content on time so they stay as a loyal paying subscriber for as long as possible.

Photo Posting Suggestions

  • Post complete sets LOCKED for your subscribers, at least 12 images, but as many as 20 images, so they appreciate your work and continue to subscribe (pay). More information in the Profile Update Suggestions section above.

  • Directly after posting the set of images post one extra image from that set UNLOCKED for all to see. This allows new people to see your talent and skill and hopefully it inspires them to pay to join your timeline.

  • Do not post the same images here as you do on Instagram. This includes not posting different images from the same setting or outfit. Example: If you take 25 images in a cool outfit, don't post 12 on Instagram, and expect people to pay here to see the other 12. Those other 12 are going to be close to the same images and no fans will pay to follow you here if they can see the same, or darn near the same, photos on Instagram for free.

  • Do not reuse old images. Example: if you posted 20 great images from a photoshoot 2 months ago, but have 10 more from that shoot on your phone, don't use them months later and expect subscribers to not remember. The most successful profiles always have fresh content.

  • Never forget that your goal here should be to become a profitable model but all a model has to sell is time, talent and beauty in photos and videos. It is best to post just one free image on Instagram, and in the comment there to mention that it is just one from an amazing full set you have posted here!

Video Posting Suggestions

  • Post unique, fun, videos LOCKED for your subscribers.

  • Directly after posting the full video, post a sample image or screencap from the same video, outfit or setting UNLOCKED for all to see. This allows new people to see your style and hopefully it inspires them to pay to join your timeline.

  • Do not post the same videos here that you do on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube. This includes making two videos in the same outfit, then later posting one here and the other one there. The key to gaining subscribers on TrueModels where they are paying you is to be unique and have content that is worth paying for. Not many fans will pay you here for what they can review for free on another site.

  • Do not reuse old videos. Example: if you posted a 5 minute video on YouTube a couple of months back, and have an extra minute or two of footage on your laptop from the same recording, don't use that extra footage here months later and expect subscribers to not remember. The most successful profiles always have fresh unique content.

  • Edit if you can. Quicky cell phone videos are OK, but videos recorded wide screen and edited a little are better and in the long run will get you more subscribers and earn you more money. There are free editing programs available for Macbooks and Windows computers, along with free tutorials on YouTube about how to use them.

  • Never forget that your goal here should be to become a profitable model but all a model has to sell is time, talent and beauty in photos and videos. It is best to post just one free image, or video screencap from a video, on Instagram, and in the comment to mention that it is from an amazing full video that can be found here!

Live Streaming Suggestions

  • Use the feature in a scheduled manner. Going live with only a few minutes notice in the middle of the day when many of your most loyal subscribers might not be on the site or available is not great. The best way to do it is by announcing the event a few days in advance.

Example: If you know on Wednesday that you are doing a photoshoot on Saturday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, it would be cool to post on Wednesday or Thursday about the upcoming shoot and let your subscribers on TrueModels know that you, or your friend, will be turning the stream on for a few minutes within that time frame, or at a set time within that shoot.

  • Use friends. The live stream doesn't always have to be you talking to the camera. For the example we gave above with the Saturday photoshoot if your friend is there he or she can manage the phone / stream while you are working your shoot. He or she can even be talking off camera explaining to fans what is going on. A live behind the scenes stream is a great thing and is rare. Being rare gives it value.

  • Scheduled, casual, Meet & Greet, type streams are awesome. The key is to plan them in advance and keep them to a reasonable time limit.

Example: Pick a night at least 4-5 days in advance, such as a Tuesday, and set a firm time such as 9:00pm Eastern USA time. Post in your feed, with a photo, that you'll be checking in with fans on the Live Stream for 30 minutes starting at that time. This is perfect because they know in advance when to be there and that it is for a limited time. Then, when the time arrives jump on to your laptop or phone and check in with your fans.

Remember, its a Meet & Greet, not a show. You are there quickly telling them about your last shoot, what you have planned, maybe answering a few questions. Have fun, then say goodbye and log out right at the 25-30 minute mark.

  • Live streams need not top 25-30 minutes and most are closer to 20. No reason to go longer as they can get boring quickly if you are not in the middle of an action movie set. "Short and sweet" is a popular term for a reason.

In the Saturday photoshoot example above you or your friend could stream 10-12 minutes, then just before shutting it off let the subscribers know you'll be back in 20 minutes after an outfit change, then stream another 10-12 minutes, and stop for another 20, and end the day with a third 10-12 minute stream.

At something like 30-40 minutes total for the afternoon, its a little longer than normal, but starting and stopping like that makes it three short streams, not one long one and helps by not having to fill in those 20 minute outfit changes with gibberish.

In the Tuesday evening Meet & Greet example anything above 25-30 minutes is too much. How many times can a fan ask your favorite color or music and how many times can you mention the cute outfits you found to use in your next shoot?

  • Live Streams are meant to display personality in a spontaneous manner. They are not "shows" where a model is playing to the camera in odd positions or going through a long series of outfit changes.

  • Do not start your Live Stream by telling your fans to go check out your new photos on Instagram. You don't want fans to leave for a few minutes to check another website because it breaks momentum here, and the minute they get back they'll start asking over and over and over what they missed while gone. At the end of your stream, in the last minute or two, let them know about your other accounts and what you have waiting for them over there. Going to those accounts is the perfect excuse for them to leave the stream at the same time you are!

  • Like in your photos and videos, you'll have more fun and earn more paying subscribers, if you are creative. Anybody can sit in-front of a laptop at the kitchen table. Planning in advance and scheduling a short stream while you are at a photoshoot, at the beach, on vacation with a pool behind you, doing make-up for a photoshoot, or anything else outside the kitchen every now and then is creative.

  • Ignore the dingbats. Every once in a while some guy or gal will stop at the bar and have a few beers before arriving home and visiting the Live Stream. If that alcohol causes them to type dumb or rude stuff in the chat box it is always best to ignore them. No need to get in an argument that causes a distraction for your other fans.

  • Live streaming is often easier from your laptop so your hands are free to type and wave and laugh.

  • Live streaming IS NOT required and may be too much hassle for some models. If you do not intend to Live Stream you should state that in your profile description by saying "No live streams featured".

Be Consistent

If you promise your fans a certain number of posts each week be sure to meet or exceed that number.

Fans and subscribers are people just like you. And, just like you, they hope to get what they pay for. The more consistent, steady and reliable you are running your profile the longer they will keep paying and the more friends they will tell about you so that your profile can grow bigger and even more profitable.

Be calm and don't over react.

So what if a few subscribers don't like today's images as much as last week's - they paid for the feed, they have their own taste and style, and most likely will love your next images. No need to argue with them.

And, we all know that some fans might visit your feed when they are having a bad day or have been drinking too much beer. If they post a dumb or rude comment don't get in a fight with them or post a rude reply.

Just be nice. No benefit comes by starting drama with fools & drunks.

Note: If the rude comment or message is sexually offensive please notify the website Admin profile by DM and our staff will deal with that follower as soon as possible.

Treat it like a fun job.

New model profiles usually start off slow but once you get going and stick with it a while it will become a normal part of your day and much easier. And, don't forget, that not everybody can be a cool model and that it is a lot more fun compared to working in a greasy kitchen at your local fast food place!

Don't let your ego stop you from filling your wallet.

This relates to how you comment and reply, but also on how you price your subscription. If you look in the mirror and your giant ego says your images are worth hundreds of dollars a month from each and every subscriber you are not going to get very many paying subscribers.

Be reasonable. A mid-range subscription rate will attract and keep many, many more paying subscribers. Later, after you've shown your fans how damn good you are at this, you can raise the price.

Laptops Help!

If you have a laptop, or even a desktop, use it when you can. You profile here is a business and it's important to see it as a fan does. Most fans use laptops or desktops to take advantage of a larger screen. Plus, laptops are better at video editing, photo sorting, and easier for streaming compared to doing it all from a phone.
